International Forest Policy Meeting

Hosted by EFI, Wageningen University & Research, and BOKU, the International Forest Policy Meeting will take place from 27th to 29th of April. It will be a virtual event.

The International Forest Policy Meeting (IFPM) is a biannual event bringing together scholars working on forest and forest-related policy issues. The 4th IFPM will take place fully online and is organised by the European Forest Institute’s Governance Programme in collaboration with EFI’s Forest Policy Research Network, all coordinated by the University of Life Sciences Vienna (BoKu). This year’s meeting will focus on the science policy and the science-media interfaces in forest policy.

XV World Forestry Congress 2022

The XV World Forestry Congress will be held in Seoul from 2nd to 6th May, under the theme “Building a Green, Healthy and Resilient Future with Forests”. The event aims to further develop the outcomes of major global events scheduled before the Congress, including the Rio Conventions’ Conferences of the Parties, the IUCN World Conservation Congress and the UN Food Systems Summit.

According to the Secretary-General of the XV WFC, Dr. Eunsik Park: “The year 2022 is a critical year in that the international community’s concerted efforts and actions are required now more than ever to achieve a carbon-neutral world and combat the climate crisis. The Republic of Korea will keep up its efforts to help advance international cooperation in the forest sector. Organizing and hosting a successful World Forestry Congress next year is an important part of the efforts. We expect that the Congress will also be an important milestone in paving the way for building back better after the pandemic.”
