Madrid will host the UNECE Expert Workshop On Green Forest Jobs

Next week, on June 25 to 26, Madrid will host the Expert Workshop on “Green Forest Jobs: Facing challenges, exploring opportunities and increasing the capacity of UNECE member States”. The workshop will take place at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de Montes Forestal y del Medio Natural.

The workshop will go through four main themes:

  • Innovation, bioeconomy and learning for the future, where Mr. Eduardo Rojas Briales, Dean of the Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros de Montes de España, will act as Session facilitator;
  • The value of forests and future‐looking outcomes, with Mr. Josef Herkendell, Head of Unit Energy and Climate, Ministry for the Environment North Rhine Westphalia, Germany, as session facilitator;
  • The future of forest work, where Mr. Diarmuid McAree, Director, Crann ‐ Trees for Ireland, will be the Session facilitator;
  • Migration and regional development, whereMs. Annemarie Bastrup‐Birk, from the European Environment Agency will act as Session facilitator.

The workshop will be followed by the third meeting of the UNECE/FAO Team of Specialists (ToS) on Green Jobs in the Forest Sector (Joint ILO/UNECE/FAO Expert Network) on 27 June 2019.
