We are a European association that represents growers, companies and organizations that belong to the poplar chain, committed to promoting a bio-economy, that defends the need to substitute non-renewable resources with poplar-based alternatives obtained from sustainably managed forests and plantations.
We aim to inform society that the poplar cultivation and wood industry chain has a key role in sustainability by responsibly guaranteeing the production of more renewable resources in the future, thus reducing our dependence on unsustainable resources.
We believe that our future is compromised unless we are capable of developing a more sustainable and healthy society based on moderation, intelligence and responsibility. We defend profitable and ecologically sound land-use systems, promoting poplar as a valuable source of raw material.

Poplar, efficiency
and value
Poplar is one of the most efficient trees in terms of sustainability. It is one of the fastest growing species in Europe, which makes it an economically sound investment while one hectare of poplar captures 11 tonnes of CO2 every year. Poplar also can be planted on otherwise useless land, thus optimizing land use and increasing timber supply with a renewable source of raw material.
Sustainable Forest Management
Sustainably managed forests allow us to obtain wood-based products sourced from trees harvested at the right age, while, in addition, plantations optimize land use and supply, therefore taking the stress off forests to provide raw material. It is crucial to understand that the environmental requirements towards the conservation of forest areas do not exclude a responsible productive activity.

Global warming and the subsequent changes in the climate is probably one of the most important challenges mankind has ever faced, not only because of the effects but moreover because we have caused the problem. It is, therefore, our responsibility to reset our relationship with the Earth in order to assure a healthy planet for future generations.

The bigger picture is that If we are to develop a sustainable society, and indeed, preserve the conditions of life on Earth, we have to change our understanding of civilization and, consequently, embrace new ideas or reframe myths and half-truths.
